Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, July 19, 1956, Page 3, Column 4 Turek Rites Held Tuesday Afternoon Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Hastings Pearson chapel for James Turek, Sr. 72. Rev. John Raymond, pastor of the Christian church, officiated, assisted by Lad Kventsky. Singers were Mr. and Mrs. Roland Heitz, with Mrs. Ivan Briggs, organist. Concluding services were held in the Ord Bohemian cemetery. Bearers ere cliff Stone, Ed Masin, Clem Markowski, John Wozab, Joe Knezacek and Mike Noha. Mr. Turek died Sunday, following a long illness. He was born in Dakota, Sept. 28, 1884. His parents were Joseph Turek and Doris Cerny, both of whom were born in Czechoslovakia. When he was eight years old, he came with Mr. and Mrs. Turek to Valley county, where he has lived since. For some time he farmed south west of Ord. Later he operated the road maintainer for Valley county for 18 years. June 2, 1903, he married Anna Sindalar. Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Alice Zajicek, Mrs. Lydia Cech, and Mrs. Norma Drevo, all of Crete; four sons, Otto, Lincoln, William, Lincoln; Jimmie Turek jr and Albert Turek, both of Ord; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank, Omaha and Joe of Ord; four sisters, Mrs. Tom Borovka, Ord; Mrs Joe Smolik, Burwell, Mrs. Mary Clark, Colorado Springs and Mrs. Joe Zurek of Ord.
