Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, October 12, 1967, Page 5, Column 4 Joseph Turek, 80, Succumbs; Rites Held at Burwell Funeral services for Joseph Turek, 80, of Ord were held Monday, at the Fleming-Urbauer Funeral Home in Burwell. Mr. Turek, in failing health for some time, died suddenly of a heart attack Friday evening, Oct. 6, at his home in Ord. The Rev. J.R. Becker officiated at the 2 pm service. Burial was in the Ord Cemetery. Joseph Turek, the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Cerna) Turek was born west of Ord in the Geranium community on December 6, 1886. He grew to manhood here and attended Valley County public schools. For many years, following, he farmed in this area. On January 31, 1935 he was united in marriage to Agnes Ruzicka at Ord. Following their marriage they farmed for nine years and in 1944 they retired and moved to Ord where he had since resided. Survivors are his wife and one sister, Mrs. Julia Turek of Ord. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
