Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, June 22, 1995, Page 8A, Column 1 Barbara Kapustka Funeral services for Barbara Ann Kapustka, 89 of Ord were held June 19 in Ord. The Rev. Jim Miller officiated. Interment was in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. (Bohemian section of the Ord Cemetery) Mrs. Kapustka died June 16, 1995 at the Valley County Nursing Home. She was born on November 17, 1905 in he Geranium area of Valley County to Vencil and Anna (Masin)Vodehnal, where she grew up on the family farm. She attended School Dist No. 73 and Ord High School. On January 27, 1931, she married Joe Cernik at Ord. They farmed in the Comstock and Sargent communities until 1940 when they moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa. In December 1943 they moved to Ord. Mr. Cernik died February 18, 1944. She then worked at the Ord Quiz for five years. On March 1, 1949, she married Bolish Kapustka at Elyria. They farmed west of Ord until March 1951 when they moved to the Haskell Creek community north of Ord. Mr. Kapustka died on January 25, 1970. She continued to live on the farm until October 1974 when she moved to Ord. In April 1994, Mrs. Kapustka entered the Valley County Nursing Home where she lived until her death. Mrs. Kapustka was a long time member of the Ord United Methodist Church and was active in its United Methodist Women's group. She was a 40 year member of the Happy Circle Extension Club. She was also a member of the Ord American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include one daughter, Agnes Cernik of Ord, one son, Alvin Cernik of Palmer; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Agnes Vancura and two brothers, Lumir Vodehnal and Rudy Vodehnal, all of Ord. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin.
