ORD — Rose Marie Holoun, 94, of Ord died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at Valley County Nursing Home in Ord. Mrs. Holoun was cremated. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Jim Heithoff will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Ord City Cemetery. Mrs. Holoun was born March 10, 1910, to Charles and Rose (Klat) Vancura in Valley County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph. Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Mary Holoun of Bellevue, and a brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Donna Vancura of Ord. Also surviving are one granddaughter, Kristina Field of Carnation, Wash. Rose Marie was raised on the family farm and attended rural school in Valley County. She attended business school for two years. On April 16, 1929, she married Joseph Holoun at Ord. The couple lived on a farm west of Ord for 35 years. Rose worked as a cook at the Ord High School and also worked at the Chicken Hatchery and Douthit's Diner. She enjoyed baking. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Delores Duda; and one brother, Charles Vancura. The Grand Island Independent on-line - Aug 24 2004
