"Victor Derboven, 56, farmer of this vicinity since 1920, died at 7 o'clock this morning at his home six miles southwest of town. He had suffered a stroke of paralysis a week ago. A native of Belgium, Mr. Derboven came to this country in 1915, locating in Iowa. He moved to Missouri in 1920. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Richard R. Spicer; two sons, Ernest and Joseph; and seven grandchildren, all of Moberly; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Van Camp and Mrs. Mildred Johnson and one brother, Harry, all of Belgium. The body has been brought to the Leaverton Funeral Home. Services will be held from the Leaverton Chapel at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon by the Rev. F.D. Owen, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery." Moberly Monitor-Index, March 29, 1935
