Inscription: Confederate Soldiers from Co. E, 5th Tenn. Calvery Hung Here in Aug. 1863 by Wm. L. Harbison and Squad of Confederate Soldiers from Co. D, 3rd Tenn. Infantry." According to Civil War records Sion enlisted 0n Nov 13, 1861 in Cleveland, TN - He was listed as absent without leave since Nov 24, 1862 and deserted on May 1, 1863
