Alta Pearl Ryan , wife of Carl Ryan, 832 South Clay avenue, died at 6:15 o'clock Sunday evening at Our Savior's hospital where she had been a patient since Dec. 2. She was 58 years old. Mrs. Ryan was born July 9, 1895 in Morgan county in the Yatesvile vicinity, the daughter of Henry and Ella Coker Lewis. She married Carl Ryan in Nov. 1915 at New Berlin. To this union one son, Joseph, was born. He was killed in services during World War II. Two brothers, Fred and Oliver Lewis also preceded her in death. She was employed as an attendant the past 20 years at the State hospital until illness forces her to retire Dec. 1. She was a member of the Baptist church, a Gold Star mother and the War Dads Auxiliary. She is survived by the following brothers and sisters, Earl Lewis, of Springfield; Loren Lewis, of New Berlin; Mrs. Myrtle Dunkel, of Springfield; and Mrs. Cora Strawn, of Jacksonville. Also her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Eula Ryan; and one granddaughter, Joyce Gay Ryan. Funeral services were at the Williamson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
