Bio

Born in McAlester, he ws the son of James Arthur and Audie (Pate) Payne. He graduated from McAlester High School with the class of 1929. He married Lorette Brown on Sept. 5, 1931. He was a member of South McAlester Masonic Blue Lodge No. 96 and Indian Consistory and was a 33 degree Scottish Rite member receiving his honor on Nov. 23, 1975. He was also a member of the Imperial Council of Shriners of the Azan Temple in Melbourne, Fla., was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of McAlester and a longtime member of the McAlester Fin and Feather Club. He died at Melbourne, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Michel Payne; a brother, Roy Payne and two sisters, Irene Jones and Helen Gagnon.
