Bio

A Mass for Ernest W. Shandera, 71, of Del Mar Heights, was said today in St. James' Roman Catholic Church in Solana Beach. Entombment was in El Camino Memorial Park. Encinitas Mortuary was in charge. He died Thursday in a hospital. Mr. Shandera was born in Revere, Minn., lived in the county 51 years, was a self-employed real estate salesman and had worked as an office manager for the Seven-Up Bottling Co. He was a member of the National Geographic Society and the Audubon Society. Survivors include two brothers, Victor, of San Diego, and Leo, of Nebraska; and three sisters, Mary Kilgore and Hilda Roberts, both of San Diego, and Irene Disney of Bridge City, Texas.
