Herald Coaster, September 17, 1961: Adolph Martin Broze, 50, was found dead in a cell at the county jail at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Justice of the Peace, Mrs. Cassie Jo Walker, returned a verdict of self-inflicted strangulation. Broze, a Rosenberg painting contractor, was arrested in the shopping center Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. by Rosenberg Police Chief Dan Manges and Patrolman J.A. Robertson. Chief Manages stated that Broze had threatened H.W. Robinson with a shotgun during an exchange of words. He was placed in the county jail and charged with disturbing the peace. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Garmany and Company Funeral Chapel, with Rev. J.J. Tydlacka officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Garmany and Company Funeral Directors had charge of arrangements. Broze, a resident of Rosenberg for 16 years, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby Lee Broze of 1820 Leaman Street; three daughters, Mrs. Barbara Ann Sykora, Miss Jane Marie Broze, and Miss Linda Lee Broze; and one son, Robert Duane Broze, all of Rosenberg; his mother, Mrs. Albina Broze of Angleton; four brothers, Jake Broze of La Marque, Jim Broze of Humble, Louis Broze of Angleton, and E.J. Broze of Houston; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Svetlik of Angelton, Mrs. Cecilia Simpson of Rio Grande City, and Mrs. Albina Killitz of Haywood, California.
