Obituary for Carroll C. Callender Obituary Mr. Callender was born in Shelbyville, TX and has lived in Albany for many years. He served in the US Air Force for almost 10 years, stationed at Turner Air Force Base most the time. He was a letter carrier with the US Post Office, retiring in 1986. Mr. Callender is currently a member of Harvest Temple Church of God. He had been a member of the First Assembly of God for 50 years. At First Assembly of God, Mr. Callender was a charter member of the Sanctuary Choir, Sunday school superintendent for 27 years, and served as a deacon. He had a deep love for his church and family and enjoyed a variety of hobbies, which mostly included helping others. He was particularly gifted at mechanics, construction, and repair, and tuning a wide variety of musical instruments. He was known for his gentle spirit and ever present humor.He is survived by his wife: Hazel Montgomery Callender, Albany; 2 daughters: Sonya C. Warfel and her husband James E. Warfel, Albany Soraya K. Miller and her husband Mark D. Miller; Albany; a brother: Charles W. Callender, Alaska; a sister: Veda C. Freeman, Lake Charles, LA; four grandchildren: Carolyn Cannon and husband Trae, Josh Warfel, Rachel Kimbrel, Nathan Warfel, all of Albany.
