Herald Coaster, April 30, 2002: Funeral services for Melvin Gus Miller, 91, of Rosenberg, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Home Chapel in Rosenberg. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Brett Miller, Gary Robken Jr., Bo Tucker, Brad Eixmann, Hardy Head, and Robert Rosenbaum. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home, 1201 Fourth St. in Rosenberg. Mr. Miller died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston. He was born Sept. 28, 1910 in Travis County to parents Adolph W. and Annie Sternberg Miller. At the age of 1, his family moved to Rosenberg, which was his home for the next 90 years. He was a retired area farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau, and a past director of Farmer's Gin Company. He was formerly on the board of directors of First National Bank of Rosenberg and a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Rosenberg. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. His survivors include his wife, Velasta Petter Miller of Rosenberg; a son, Everitt Miller and his wife, Annette, of Rosenberg; daughters, Frances Robken and her husband, Gary, of Waco, and Carol Ann Miller of Wharton; grandchildren, Sarah Eixmann and her husband, Brad, of Austin, Brett Miller and Polly Miller, both of Rosenberg, Jennifer Robken and Julie Robken, both of Denver, Colo., and Gary Robken Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Waco; and a sister, Sadie Miller, of Austin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Rosenbaum Miller. Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors, Inc. in Rosenberg. (281) 342-4671.
