Bio
Hortense Arnold-Roberts Parker was the daughter of Oba Roberts and Susan Elizabeth Arnold. She was the granddaughter of Governor Oran Milo Roberts and Frances Wycliffe Edwards. Her other grandparents were James Arnold and Malinda Cooper. Hortense grew up in Shelby County, Texas. She married Hezekiah Lamb Parker, Sr., who already had fathered twelve children. She also lived in San Augustine County, Texas, DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, and San Jacinto County, Texas. She was the mother of eight children. Three of them are also buried in Shepherd Cemetery. They are Estella Parker Jones, Wade Unum Parker, and Hessie Kilamb Parker.
