COLUMBUS -- Harold J. Husmann, 87, of rural Columbus, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home. Funeral service will be held at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Reverend Rod Kneifl will be officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Shelby, with military honors. Harold J. Husmann was born October 27, 1925, in Platte Center, to John and Emma (Wills) Husmann. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on August 23, 1944, and returned to Platte Center in 1946. On September 6, 1950, Harold was united in marriage to Dorolene Leimser at St. Mary's in Pilsno. They were married for 62 years. Harold was employed at Hapco, Sokol Irrigation and as a mechanic at Overland Sand & Gravel for over 30 years. In 1976, they moved from Clarks to their home in rural Duncan. Harold loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his sons or relatives and spending time in his garden. He enjoyed his grandchildren and his dog, Shilo. He is survived by his wife, Dorolene "Dorie" Husmann, of Columbus; son, Michael (Darcia) Husmann, of David City; son, Rickard Husmann, of Columbus; daughter, Cynthia (Jerome) Fritz, of Hildreth; daughter, Jacqueline (Rick) Wegner, of Archer; daughter, Christi (Michael) Peterson, of Columbus; son, Bradley (Julie) Husmann, of Columbus; grandchildren, Shawn (Brenda) Husmann, Angela (Jeremy) Erickson, Amanda Husmann, Kimberly Husmann, Eric (Kirsten) Husmann, Ashley ( Evan) Lewandowski, Wendy (Dan) Botsch, Zachary Wegner, Megan Peterson, Nick Juracek, Madison Husmann; twelve great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Emma Husmann; three sisters, two brothers; granddaughter, Celeste Fritz.
