Sandra "Sandy" Wenzel, 57, of Needville, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006. She was born Dec. 1, 1948, in Wharton, to Lillian Duyka of Needville and the late Joe Duyka Jr. She graduated from East Bernard High School in 1967 and earned a master's degree in speech-language pathology from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. She retired from Needville Independent School District in 2003, where she worked for 30 years as the district's speech-language pathologist. She attended St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. Survivors: husband, Don Wenzel; daughters, Kristie Kettler of Richmond and Kori Sury of Needville; stepdaughter, Angie Ulery of Booth; stepson, Dustin Wenzel of Katy; brothers, Tim Duyka of Wharton and Jody Duyka of Needville; and one granddaughter. Visitation was held 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home chapel. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Services will be 10 a.m. today at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 9214 Main St. in Needville. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Rosenberg.
