Alexander Smothers, 65, of 2730 North Church street, died in a hospital in Jacksonville Saturday night. He had been in failing health for 10 years. He was born in Marion county, Ky., in 1873. His wife died several years ago. He lived in Decatur more than 25 years. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Wilson of 547 Gault street; two sons, Howard and Elmer Smothers of Bradfordsville, Ky.; three brothers, Robert Smothers of Oconee, Dee Smothers of Gravel Switch, Ky. and Joseph Smothers of Raleigh, Ky. Funeral services in Moran & Sons chapel. Burial in Graceland cemetery.
