Bio

Rachel Catharine Matilda Pearson married 1) Ed. A. Kemp 2-28-1884. b. 3-15-1857 d. 1-23-1902. He died a tragic death in a sawmill accident. They had 3 children: Mary L who died of consumption. On drs orders, she lived in a tent in Alton tryin to cure her consumption with fresh air. Bessie Mirtle who had many descendents, & George W. who died at age 17. He walked into the path of a bullit fired from 2 men who were argueing at a July 4th ?? picnic. Rachel moved to Evansville, Ind where she met & married 2) Clarence Compton. Her family traveled on a packet boat to visit them. They retired & moved to Leavenworth where their home was washed away in the flood. Rachel & 2nd husb Clarence Compton are suppose to be buried in a cem in Evansville, Ind.
