Michael Richard "Mike" Streit, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Mike was born December 27, 1958, at Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago, Illinois, to Larry and Janice (Dickson) Streit, the oldest of eight children. Mike attended school in Overton, NE. and graduated from Overton (NE.) High School with the class of 1977. He and enjoyed baseball, golfing and was an avid HUSKER FAN!!!! He is known for being the winner of the Ugliest Christmas Sweater Contest!! He had many friends and a heart of gold. He will be so very missed by his family and friends. Mike is survived by: parents Larry and Janice Streit of Overton, Nebraska; siblings, brother, Mark Streit of Denton, Nebraska and his children, Ashley and Caitlin of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ryan of Denton; sister, Lori (Jeff) Davis of Lexington, Nebraska and their children, Brett (Kayla) Davis and children, of Elm Creek, Nebraska, and Broch Davis of Lexington, Nebraska; brother, Joe (Patti) Streit of Kearney, Nebraska, and their children, Connor and Jordan; sister, Lisa (Dean) Hawkinson of Falcon, Colorado, and their children, Emily and Nathan; sister, Linda (Pat) Patsios of Kearney, Nebraska, and their children, Trevor and McKenna; sister, Melanie (Troy) Feikert of Kearney, Nebraska and their children, Eric Feikert of Lincoln, Nebraska and Michaela (Steven) Morris of Kearney, Nebraska; sister, Amy (Mark) Dolan of Overton, Nebraska and their children, Matthew and Mitchell; aunt and uncle Frank and Diane Smutny and cousins; aunt and uncle Ed and Isabel Gruntorad and cousins, uncle Melvin Streit and cousins. Mike is preceded in death by: grandparents, Fred and Edith Dickson and Joe and Maggie Streit. Inurnment was in the Elm Creek Cemetery, Elm Creek, Nebraska.
