Harry W. Palu, of Loup City, NE. died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, NE. Harry was born on May 24, 1924, on the family farm northeast of Loup City, NE., the son of Walter and Johanna (Zielinski) Paluch. Harry was united in marriage to Madeline D. Kuszak on May 20, 1947, at Loup City. Harry grew up on the family farm and attended Sherman County, NE., rural schools. Due to the death of his father, he began farming with his mother at a young age. Harry served in the United States Army from March 1945 to Nov. 1945. He then returned to the family farm upon his discharge. After Harry and Madeline were married, they lived in Loup City, NE., where he worked at Clem's Bar and Keystone Lumber Company. He then returned to farming south of Loup City, NE., later moving to a farm northwest of Loup City, NE., where he farmed until his retirement. He then worked for the Loup City Sale Barn for several years. Even though he retired, he truly never quit farming. Harry was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, where he was a former parish council member and he was also a member of the American Legion Post 48 for many years. Harry enjoyed playing cards and loved going for long drives in the country. Harry was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Arnold Palu and sisters, Clara Grudzinski and Emily Stobbe. Harry is survived by: wife, Madeline Palu of Loup City; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Jan Palu of Grand Island and Terry and Yvonne Palu of Loup City; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Marian Palu of Loup City; grandchildren, Alan Palu of Casper, WY, Clint and Terri Palu of Alda, Carrie and Monty Hurlburt of Arcadia, Dori and Mike Dorsey of Loup City, Kayla Palu of Oconto and Tanner Palu of Loup City; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City, NE., with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 48 of Loup City, NE. Published in Kearney Hub on March 11, 2013
