Funeral Services Held For Daniel Stackhouse The Homer Enterprise Friday, October 16, 1953, page 1 Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 P.M. Monday at the Methodist Church for Daniel E. Stackhouse, 85, retired farmer of Homer. Mr. Stackhouse passed away at 11:10 P.M. Friday, Oct. 9th, at Champaign County Nursing Home where he had been a patient for three years. Rev. Robert Bisber conducted the service and interment was in Homer GAR Cemetery. Lux Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Stockhouse had been a resident of Homer 44 years. He was born July 28, 1868 in Mechanicstown, Ohio, the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Grafton Stackhouse. He was married on December 17th, 1896 to Rosetta Melton in Clark County, Ill. The deceased was a member of the Homer Methodist Church and had served as church custodian many years until his health failed. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Bernice Hill and Mrs. Grace Butler, both of Homer, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. (transcribed by Homer Historical Society)
