Clemmie Cleo Smith Funeral services for Clemmie Cleo Smith, 87, of Florence, will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Florence, with the Revs. Ed Jennings and John Stanislaw officiating. Burial will follow at Florence City Cemetery. Mrs. Smith died on Wednesday in Georgetown. She was born on February 25, 1904, in Travis County to Jacob Robert and Mary Ellen Louise King Ward, and had lived in Florence for 65 years. She married Charley Austin Smith on February 5, 1921, in Beaukiss, Texas. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Florence. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 15, 1969; and by a son, Hollis Everett Smith. Survivors include two sons, Vernon Smith of Leander, and A. A. Smith of Florence; a daughter, Doris Ellen Smith Standridge of Florence; five sisters, Eva Mae Ward Briggs, Willie Artis "Billie" Ward Kuykendall, and Faye Ward Freeman, all of Florence, Clara Marie Ward Cosper of Klleen, and Jessie Meriel Ward Jennings of Liberty Hill, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Florence. Davis/Young Memorial Chapel in Florence is in charge of arrangements.
