Elviera R. Cernosek was born one of 10 children, to Louis and Julia Richers, a rice and dairy farmer. Our beloved mother, Elviera R. Cernosek, went to be with the Lord, on February 24, 2013 at the age of 97. She was born in Bay City, Texas on November 2, 1915, one of 10 children, to Louis and Julia Richers, a rice and dairy farmer. Because of the Depression, Elviera was only able to attend one year of college in Denton, Texas as her oldest brother "L.W." was enrolled at A & M College. She then rented a room from a family in Houston to attend secretarial school. Upon completion she was a secretary in the executive offices at Imperial Sugar Co., Sugarland, Texas. On weekends she went home to be courted by her ex-high school physics and chemistry teacher whom she married in 1935 at the age of 19. Her marriage to Stanley F. Cernosek lasted for 58 years until his death in 1994. Being the wife of a principal and superintendent of schools, she often worked as secretary in the school offices. She always loved a bridge game and traveling with her husband. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, two sisters, and grandson Justin Cecil Jacobs. Elviera is survived by her children: Therese Richard, husband George; Stanley F. Cernosek, Jr., wife Rose Mary; Carolyn Jacobs Holland, husband Homer; Juliana Higgins, husband Ken; and Colette Pieper, husband Robert; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Sybella P. Green, Judy O'Roark, and Lily Carr; one brother Sherwood A. Richers; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Serenity Private Care Home, especially caregiver Lea Sanciuc, for all the care and compassion given to our beloved mother.
