Sherman (TX) Democrat, Oct 14, 1952 WILL W. UMPHRESS, 67, a native & life long resident of Grayson County, died Tuesday at 2; 10 a.m. at his home in Van Alstyne. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Jimmy Duckworth, pastor will conduct the service, assiting will be J. W. Jackson, Church of God minister & the Rev. Herman Mayor, Methodist minister. Burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mr. Umphress was born Oct 21, 1884 at Van Alstyne, a son of Jesse & Susan (Patilla) Umphress. He was a member of the Baptist Church & a painter. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lee Umphress ; a stepson, Cecil Connally of Dallas ; two brothers, Tom Umphress of Van Alstyne & Walter Umphress of Los angeles, CA. ; two sisters ; Mrs. Minnie O'Neal of Paducah & Mrs. Bessie Crowder of Oklahoma.
