Sherman Democrat Tuesday, Dec 6, 1988 - Pg A8 Van Alstyne - Services for Lee Umphress, formerly of Van Alstyne, 92-year-old retired Sherman Laundry employee, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel. She died Monday at Sulphur Springs Nursing Home. The Rev. DeVost and the Rev. Allen will officiate, and burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery. Mrs. Umphress was born in McKinney, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bailey Leverton, and married Bill Umphress. She was a member of the Pentecostal church. Surviving are her son, Cecil Connally of Red Oak; sister, Ruby Stone of Como; brothers, John L. Leverton of Hawley and T.C. Leverton of Sulphur Springs; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Johnny Leverton, Lloyd Leverton, Bobby Umphress, Tot Stone and Junior Gregg.
