Leslie Lance, died February 26, 2013, in Seward after a four-year battle with cancer at the age of 57 years, 8 months, and 26 days. Les was born May 31, 1955, to Ed and Millie (Bargman) Lance in Seward. Les attended grade schools in Seward and Staplehurst and graduated from Seward High School in the class of 1974. He was employed for five years at Hughes Brothers, Inc.; seventeen years at Land & Sky Waterbed Mfg., Lincoln; and eight years at MetroGroup prior to its closing. Les was baptized, received first communion, and confirmed at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Les was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Les loved the outdoors, especially taking pleasure in camping, fishing, hunting and shooting. During the last years while dealing with cancer and staying at home, he was guarded, watched, and loved by his dog, Milenka, who he called, Bert. We will remember Les as a calm, quiet, gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, his daughters, and family. He chose to live his life with full enjoyment and faith in God throughout his illness inspiring those around him. Les was preceded in death by grandparents, Joseph and Antonia Lanc, George and Mary Bargman, and parents-in-law Richard and Olive Birkes.
