Bio

Albert W. Stuchlik, 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22. He will be missed terrifically by family, a multitude of friends and the Bonner Springs community he served for so many years. Albert was born April 25, 1946 in Kearney, NE, to Frank and Elsie Ayres Stuchlik. After graduating from Bonner Springs High School and the University of Notre Dame, he served in Vietnam as a Chaplain's Assistant in the US Army. Albert's family, friends, faith, helping others less fortunate and his devotion to those who served our country were constant guiding principles in his life. After his military service Al married Carole Bell (Specht), mother to their two daughters. They lived in Bonner Springs raising their girls as members of Sacred Heart Parish while Al worked at Commercial State Bank. He served his community as a member of the City Council and later worked at the National Agricultural Hall of Fame and most recently at Vaughn-Trent Community Services. Al was an active member of the Olson-McGraw-Thompson-Goins VFW Post 6401. Wearing these hats, Al touched countless lives. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 27 with a Rosary at 5:00 pm. Inurnment at the Leavenworth National Cemetery on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 11:00 am. Al is survived by daughters Heather Ehlert (Adam) of Overland Park and Krista (Garrett Curler) of Austin, TX; his Godchildren Sandra Frey Reddin, Marc Frey and Austin Bell of the greater Kansas City area; several cousins sharing his Czech and British heritage in the St. Louis and Nebraska areas; his tight-knit extended VFW family and countless friends.
