Kathryn M. "Kathy" Schwenk, of St. Libory,NE., died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, NE. Kathy was born on June 4, 1933, at St. Paul, NE., the daughter of Einar and Marie (Rasmussen) Rasmussen. Kathy was united in marriage to Marvin M. Schwenk on March 20, 1954, at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul, NE. Kathy is survived by: husband, Marvin Schwenk of St. Libory, NE.; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Becky Schwenk of St. Libory, NE.; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Bill Rehder of Florence, OR. and Sue and Ron Bailey of Council Bluffs, IA.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivan and Erma Rasmussen of St. Paul, NE., Don and Marie Rasmussen of Hastings, NE., John and Linda Rasmussen of Grand Island, NE. and Joyce Rasmussen of Lincoln, NE.; grandsons, Matt Rehder of Seattle, WA., Cody Murphy of Ames, IA. and Max Schwenk of St. Libory, NE. Kathy grew up on a farm in the Fairdale area north of St. Paul, NE. where she attended country school and graduated from St. Paul (NE.) High School in 1951. She then taught school in the Fairdale area for one year and then worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company. After she and Marvin were married the couple farmed northwest of St. Libory, NE. Kathy worked right alongside her husband for their many years of farming. They later moved to a home southwest of St. Libory, NE. to enjoy their retirement. For the past three years she has resided at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, ME. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women in St. Paul, NE. and the Red Hat Society Ladies of St. Paul, NE. Church and family were very important in Kathy's life. She loved her grandsons and enjoyed traveling. She was always willing to try anything and was a very positive and loving person. She was preceded in death by: parents; step-father, John McClelland; and brother, Stanley Rasmussen. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, St. Paul, NE.
