Grandmother of Chas. Clifford Allen 1889-1968 of Greeley, NE From The Greeley Citizen, February 28, 1910, page 5, transcribed by Linda Berney: DIED - CURRIE - At her home in Leo Valley, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 10 [sic], 1910, Mrs. Eliza Currie, wife of John Currie, Sr., aged about 81 years. Eliza Foy was born in County Longford, Ireland, and May 19, 1858 was married to John Currie in the City of Dublin. To this union were born six children, of whom five are living to mourn with the aged husband and father, as follows: Samuel Currie of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Rosa Cole of Auburn, Maine; John Currie, Jr., of North Loup; Isabelle Allen of Mt. Pleasant precinct, and Rebecca Baker of Scotia precinct. The husband and wife came to America in 1859 and were among the very early settlers in Leo Valley. By her own request, Mrs. Currie was buried in O'Connor Cemetery, and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Hayes at the Church of the Visitation Saturday morning. Card of Thanks - I wish to thank the neighbors and friends for their kindness in the death and burial of our beloved wife and mother, and especially Mrs. Fred Eastergreen for the many, many favors shown.
