"The Fairfield Ledger", Monday, September 8, 2008, Page 8 HIATT, Alice Jean -- Alice Jean HIATT, 77, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Jefferson County Hospital Living Care Center in Fairfield . A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Francis Hendricksen officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the American Diabetes Association and American Cancer Society. Mrs. HIATT was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Louis and Clara ISHMAEL SHOEMAKER. She married Edwin D. FIEDLER Nov. 11, 1949, in Ottumwa. He died April 17, 1972. She married Robert HIATT Jan. 24, 1976, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield. Mrs. HIATT grew up in Ottumwa and graduated from Ottumwa High School. She and her first husband moved to Fairfield in 1961. They owned and operated the Market Basket and Fid's D-X in Fairfield. Mrs. HIATT worked at Philco-Ford, Farm Journal and Overland Sheepskin Company. She and her second husband lived in Stanwood from 1991-1996 and Arizona from 1998-2004. They returned to Fairfield in 2004. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield. Survivors include her husband, Bob; three sons, Kim FIEDLER of Sarasota, Fla., Randy FIEDLER and wife Jeannette of Cedar Rapids and Scott FIEDLER of Los Angeles, Calif.; two stepchildren, Connie INMAN and husband Jerry of Mechanicsville and Roger HIATT of Apache Junction, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Eve SUHAR of Arlington, Texas, and Ellie SLAVINSKY of Hill Top Lakes, Texas; and two brothers, Bob SHOEMAKER of Trenton, Texas, and Harold SHOEMAKER of Ashville, N.C. In addition to her first huband, Ed, she was preceded in death by one son, Craig Eugene FIEDLER; one stepson, Bill HIATT; her parents; one brother, Joe SHOEMAKER; and one sister, Louise STOHER.
