Donald Leroy Nowling, 82, of Brownstown, passed away at 1:20 PM on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the VA hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born February 21, 1930 in Crothersville, Indiana, he was the son of James Thomas and Viola Nowling. Donald was a 1947 Crothersville High School graduate. On September 16, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas he married Norma Jean who passed away on December 31, 1986. Donald retired from the United States Air force in May of 1969. Then was employed at Arvin's, shortly after that he owned his own HVAC company. Donald was of the Baptist faith, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post # 89 in Seymour, Indiana, has always been an avid IU basketball fan, liked to hunt, & enjoyed traveling to Alaska to spend his summers. Survivors include three sons, Stephen Leroy (Joyce) Nowling of Columbus, Indiana, Michael David (Kathleen) Nowling of Clayton, Indiana, Gregory Thomas (Marita) Nowling of Borden, Indiana, one daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Nowling of Indiana, a companion that he shared his last ten years with, Carol Ferguson of Brownstown, seven grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Nowling of Columbus, IN, Heather (Danny) Deshong of Crothersville, Sarah & Timothy Nowling of Clayton, Indiana, Nacasta (Thomas) Burns of Jeffersonville, IN, Cameron Breedlove, and Ericha Breedlove, both of Indiana, three great grandchildren, David & Curtis Nowling of Columbus, IN, Emma Deshong of Crothersville, one step great grandson, Raymond Burns of Jeffersonville. Two brothers, James Nowling and William Clifford Nowling preceded him in death. Reverend Ralph Hillenburg will conduct funeral services at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Adams Funeral Homes & Crematory in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery.
