Bio

Gertrude Uptmor, the 14 year old daughter of J. H. Uptmor and wife, died in Oklahoma City last Sunday after a short illness with dropsy. Last March she took sick and since that time has been bothered with dropsy. Six weeks ago she went to Oklahoma with her mother and two sisters, it being thought that the climate there would be beneficial to her. She did not improve however and about a week ago began to get worse the end coming Sunday at the home of her uncle, Henry Gerdes and wife. Mr. Uptmor left for Oklahoma Sunday and the remains arrived here Wednesday afternoon and the funeral will take place Friday morning from the Catholic church. Gertrude Uptmor was born in Teutopolis on Jan. 24, 1896, and was the second child of J. H. Uptmor and wife. She attended the local schools and was always a great favorite with all her companions. She was a bright active child and her death comes as a great shock to all her acquaintances. Besides the parents she leaves to mourn three brothers and three sisters.
