Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Febr. 8, for Mr. Gregor Preisinger, who died at his home nine miles southeast of Seward last Tuesday evening, Febr. 3, from Emmanuel Ev. Lutheran Church. His pastor, the Rev. W. C. Ollenburg, was in charge of the rites; burial was made on the church cemetery. Gregor Preisinger was born in Germany on August 30, 1875 (census records indicate he was born in Seward county, NE). In due time he received the administration of the sacrament of the Holy Baptism and thereby became a child of God. After due instruction in the Bible truths he was confirmed, March 12, 1891, in the old Stone Church by Pastor C. E. Bode, thereby becoming a communicant member of the Lutheran Church. He lived with his father, Joseph Preisinger, and his step-mother north of Garland for a while and later southeast of Seward. On August 16, 1906 he was united in marriage to Margaret Wemper by Pastor J. Joeckel. Together they lived for almost thirty-six years on the place where he passed away. Five children were born to this union. For about the past two months Mr. Preisinger was bedfast, suffering much pain at times. He suffered from pulmonary embolism and phlebitis of both legs. The Lord finally took him to Himself on February 3, 1942, at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 3 days. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Anna Krieser of Garland; Mrs. Ida Gade of Staplehurst; Mrs. Gertrude Petri of Vallejo, Calif; Mrs. Clara Hillmann of Ruby; Miss Caroline Preisinger of Seward; four sons-in-law: Martin Krieser, Martin Gade, Edwin Petrie, Carl Hillmann, four grandchildren, a number of brothers and sisters-in-law and other relatives and friends.
