Bio

Mother of Belton Woman Dies Belton, May 2 – Mrs. A. E. Gower, mother of Mrs. S. B. McElroy of this city died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Lonnie Wilson at Florence Sunday night at 11 o'clock following a very short illness. Death was due to congestion of the stomach, it was said. The deceased lived in the city with her daughter, Mrs. McElroy and was at the home of her niece on a visit when she was seized with the fatal illness. She was well known in this city and had attained the age of 76 years. The deceased was a devout Christian and for many years was a member of the Methodist church. The remains were laid to rest this afternoon in the Florence cemetery, the family burial grounds, the services being conducted by Rev. Moore of that city. Four children survive. They are Mrs. S. B. McElroy of this city, Mrs. A. J. McClure of San Antonio, Hugh Gower of San Antonio and Walter Gower of Goldthwaite.
