BM1 US Coast Guard - World War 2 The Cherokee Daily Times, 12 July 1975, page 3: Marlin (Bill) Whisman, 60, died Thursday in Springfield, Missouri, due to a heart condition. Mr. Whisman lived in Springfield for the past eight years and was a former resident of Storm Lake, Washta and Cherokee. Born February 24, 1915, at Washta, Mr. Whisman, married Rose Svedoda on July 20,1949, in Texas. He was a truck salesman for the Montgomery GMC Truck Sales in Springfield and was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife; sisters, Mrs. Ben Cedar, Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, and Mrs. Fred Warburton, Brainerd, Minn, and a brother, Floyd Whisman, Washta. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home, Cherokee. The Rev. A.E. Goldhorn will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Meadow Cemetery.
