Bio

BROOKS — Sylvester Ashbeck, 71, died Wednesday of pancreatic cancer. He was born in Auburndale, Wis., and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He was also a member of the Assembly God of Church in Brooks. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen. Survivors include his wife, Janice, whom he married in 1984; sons, Frank of Pendleton, Thomas of Woodburn and Joseph of Renton, Wash.; daughter, Margaret Ashbeck of Eugene; brothers, Emery and Thomas, both of Hermiston; and sisters, Eleanor Ashbeck of Hermiston and Mildred Weber of Kenosha, Wis. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hermiston Cemetery. Arrangements are by Keizer Funeral Chapel.
