Bio

C.V. Johns, 70, of Palmer, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, in Waxahachie. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2013, in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at The Avenue Church, 1761 N Highway 77, Waxahachie, TX. Interment will follow at New Harmony Cemetery in Van Zandt County. C.V. was born in Clovis, New Mexico, to the late Melvin Virgil and Laura Juanita (Morris) Johns. He married Vickie Teer on June 5, 1999 in Glenn Heights, Texas. C.V. served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 in the combat infantry. He served in the law enforcement for 30 years. C.V. served for 25 years in DeSoto as captain, two years in Venus and retired from Italy as Police Chief ending his career. He was a member of the Chief of Police Association of Texas. He loved to do woodwork, drawing and sketching. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his sister. Survivors include his loving wife, Vickie, of Palmer; children, Bennie Lynn Johns, of Venus, Virgil Eugene Johns and wife, Jennifer, of Farmington, New Mexico, Erick Holt and his wife, Dana, of Waxahachie, and JoLynn Baird and husband, Barry, of Waxahachie; five grandchildren; a brother, of Red Oak; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
