NOTES: According to the Baylor Bulletin, Ex-Student's Directory, 1920, Lemuel B. Black attended Baylor University in 1867. From FAG Contributor #47179832 writes: Lemuel Blackston Black was born in Bastrop, Texas. At an early age he came to Waco with his parents. He attended Waco, Univ., now Baylor, and later attended Washington and Lee Univ. in VA. He then completed a business course in New Orleans. At the age of 19 years he was employed by the Fort and Jackson Bank on N. 3rd Street and the Square. For several years he worked in the Waco Natl. Bank (now the First Natl. Bank), as a teller and then cashier. In 1884 Black was one of the organizers of the Citizens Natl. Bank, at 4th and Austin. Mr. William Cameron was the first president. In 1900 this bank moved to 4th and Franklin where Mr. Black remained until his death, having completed 57 years of bank service in Waco. He was a Steward in old Fifth Street Methodist Church, and then a charter member of Austin Avenue Methodist Church.
