Bio

Bessie Faye Cox was born to Willard Docie Clayton and Mary Williams on October 10, 1915 in Erath County, Texas. She married Ernest H. Bacon on August 5, 1933 in Bryan, Oklahoma. To this marriage Bobby Joe Bacon was born. He later legally changed his name to Cox. The marriage did not last. Bessie married James E. Cox on November 23, 1939 in Bryan, Oklahoma. To this marriage two sons were born. Billy James Cox and Eargle Clayton Cox. She was a kind woman when I met her. I unfortunately did not know her long or well but I was always told by my Great Aunts Jim and Nova what a sweet girl and woman she was. She was always kind to me. She was one of seven girls born to Willard and Mary. Her sisters were Myrtle May Clayton (Williams), Eula Francis Clayton (Kirby), Zenovia (Nova) Clayton (Butler), Kate Inez Clayton (Stricklin), Ruby Ellen Clayton, and Jimmie Clayton (Taylor).
