The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), February 11, 1965, p. 4B, col. 4 OBITUARY OF ARTHUR B. FOSTER Arthur B. Foster, son of Joseph and Sarah Foster, was born Sept. 24, 1882, at Knox County, Ill. He died at the Sundermann Rest Home in Seward, Jan. 29. The Foster family traveled by covered wagon from Illinois to Bird City, Kans., where they homesteaded for 11 years. They moved to Seward county, Nebraska in 1896, and it was there that young Arthur grew into manhood. He was appointed to the post of rural mail carrier at Ulysses in 1917 and retired in 1949 after 32 years of service. On Jan. 2, 1907, he was married to Linnie May Fry at Seward. A daughter, Edna Mae, was born May 11, 1916 and died July 17, 1917, at the age of 1 year and 2 months. Linnie May Foster died Aug. 29, 1926. In August, 1927, he was united in marriage to Mary Slama Dobrusky at Ulysses. He is survived by his wife, Mary; a stepson, Eman Dorbrusky of Seward; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Gravel of Ulysses, twin daughters, Mrs. Anton Truksa of Staplehurst and Mrs. Arnold Turek of Seward; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Richardson of Lincoln, Mrs. Ray Gilbert of Newcastle, Wyo., and Mrs. Myrtle Fry of North Platte; four brothers, C. D. and Ollie of Denver, Colo., James of Ulysses and John of Crete; and 10 grandchildren. Two brothers, George and Vilbert, preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Ulysses, Monday afternoon, Feb. 1. Rev. Josephine Scahill, officiated. Mrs. Victor Gravel of Seward was organist. Earlyon Lamberty of Seward was vocalist. Casket bearers were Jack Sanley, Donald Geiger and Bernard Hurt of Ulysses. Fred Richardson of Lincoln, Louis Slama of Bee, and John Slama of Memphis. Burial was in the Ulysses Cemetery.
