Verlond J. Ash 1919 - 2013 VETERAN Our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather Verlond J. Ash, 93, of Orem returned home to his Heavenly Parents, his sweetheart, mother, father, brother and sister on January 19, 2013. He was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah, on August 4, 1919, to William James Ash and Bertha Fage. He grew up in Orem on his parent's farm and has resided in Orem his entire life. As a young man, he joined the National Guard Unit in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and was called to active duty during World War II. He spent most of his active duty in the European Theatre under General Patton. He worked for Parks Cafe for 30 years, and finished his career working for BYU Food Services. He married his eternal sweetheart, Vivian Louise Kunzler, on March 17, 1951. She passed away on March 31, 1979. They were sealed in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Later, he married Lariel Yeates and enjoyed many years with her. She preceded him in death. During his life he enjoy hunting, fishing, and going to BYU Basketball games. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed spending time with his family and wouldn't miss a birthday party. He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, eight grandchildren and their spouses, and 22 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; his parents; sister, Neva; and brother, Jess. He is survived by his son Kaylen (Cathy) Ash of Orem. A memorial service will be held for immediate family members. Friends and family are welcome to attend a viewing Thursday evening, January 24th from 6 to 8 pm at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home at 646 East 800 North Orem, Utah. — The Daily Herald | Provo, Utah | 24 Jan 2013
