Bio

Paul William Korn Paul William Korn of Nampa passed away on Jan. 25, 2006, after a short illness at a local care center. Born on Oct. 5, 1921, to Ben Korn and Agnes Francka Korn, Paul was raised with his five brothers on a north side Nampa farm. He graduated from Nampa High School in 1940. Paul met his future wife, Lois Marie Lyden, while she was visiting relatives in Nampa during the summer of 1946. He followed her back to Nebraska in 1947, and they were married in Belden, Neb., on Aug. 9, 1948. Paul and Lois made their home in Belden, where Paul farmed with Lois' parents. After the birth of their first son, Jerry, they moved to Emmetsburg, Iowa, in 1951. They continued to farm in Iowa and added their son, Kenneth. Paul moved his family to Idaho in 1955, where he purchased a farm in northeast Nampa and began a dairy operation, which led to the formation of Korncrest Farms. Two more sons, Richard and Lester, were added to his family. Paul continued to work hard to support his family and grow his dairy business. He supported his kids' endeavors by being a 4-H leader and even playing Santa Claus for Saint Paul's Catholic School. In 1968, Lois gave Paul a pleasant April Fool's surprise with the birth of their daughter, Paula. Paul loved his family, and especially enjoyed having a houseful of grand and great grandchildren at the holidays. He also loved the land that he so carefully tended and was most often seen either on his International tractor or on his 4-wheeler, supervising his boys. He was a member of Saint Paul's Parish and the Knights of Columbus. Paul is survived by his wife, Lois; his sons, Jerry, Kenneth, Richard (Kim), Lester (Carolyn), and Paula Korn-Jackson; 11 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charlie, Ben, Bill, Frank, Pete, and his best friend from grade school, Bill Valentine. Holy Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1515 8th St. S., Nampa. Father Gerald Funke, Pastor will officiate. Graveside rites will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Sunday evening with vigil and visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. S., Nampa. Paul's family suggests donations be made in his memory to St. Paul's Building on Faith Fund, 1515 8th St. S., Nampa, ID 83651. Idaho Press-Tribune (Nampa, ID) - Sunday, January 29, 2006
