Bio

Mr. Gene P. Dykes, age 70, of Center, Texas passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013, in Center. He was born on April 16, 1942, in Winnsboro, Texas to the late Glen C. Dykes and Dolly J. Banks Dykes. He was a major in the U.S. Army and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He is survived by the mother of his sons, L. Ruth Dykes of Mount Vernon, his sons, Gene P. Dykes II and wife Glenetta of Cypress, Texas, Dwight W. Dykes and wife Gianna of Dallas, Texas, his sisters, Mary A. Taylor and husband Joe of Overton, Texas, Karen K. Campbell of Zavalla, Texas, his brother, Joe G. Dykes and wife Lanell of Center, stepmother, Frances Dykes of Tyler, Texas and five grandchildren, Ryan, Hope, Grace, Camille and Benjamin Dykes. Graveside services will be on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at 12:30pm in the Smyrna Cemetery in Wood County. Viewing for family and friends will from 10:30am to noon on Thursday at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro prior to the graveside services. Published in Tyler Morning Telegraph on January 23, 2013
