Bio

NOTE: Military and death records state his birth year as 1913, but a handwritten birth announcement by his mother records his birth as "Jan. 20th 1914" which is correct. _________________________ GENEALOGICAL FACTS PARENTS: Alverus Byron Post, Jr./(II) Anna Lois (White) Post SIBLINGS: Brookse-Nel (Post) Insel, Millicent Angeline "Mickey" (Post) Butler, Lewis Foch Post, and Richard Morgan Post SPOUSE: Never married (twice engaged) CHILDREN: None GRANDPARENTS: Alverus Byron Post, Sr. Angeline (Tufts) Post Quillen Lewis B. White Millicent R. (Weyand) White _________________________ CAUSE OF DEATH Just days before Alverus's death, his fiancee, Jean Roberts, was murdered by her business partner, Lil McElrath, following an evening of arguing between the two women. Unbeknownst to Jean, Lil was apparently in love with her and unhappy with the attention Jean was showing toward Alverus. Lil was seen to reach under the counter of the cafe they owned together in Boron, pull out a gun and shoot Jean in the chest - she later turned the gun on herself. A witness to the murder left the cafe and brought Alverus back to the scene of the carnage, were they found both women dead. This would be the second untimely death of a woman Alverus loved and had hopes of marrying. Only a couple of years before, his college sweetheart and first fiancee was killed in an auto accident. Perhaps, this second loss proved to be too much for him and Alverus took his own life. See Mojave Record article by Geo. H. Killinger, The Boron Live, "Quarrel Over Love of One Man Climaxes Death of Three." _________________________ (Transribed from original copy of newspaper article found in personal paperwork of Lewis F. An inquest will be held at the P.C.B. mine today (Thursday at 1:00 p. m.) _________________________ NOTE: Alverus acquired the nickname "Mike" while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
