Thanks to contributor #46770673; FIRTH, Leslie Donald, 96, of Kearney, formerly of Hampton, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Services: Wednesday, Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Burial: Hampton City Cemetery. Born Nov. 20, 1908, in Aurora. Parents: Christopher and Alice (Sundgren) Firth. Attended school in Aurora. With father, purchased and ran the Sinclair gas station in Hampton for several years; then worked for Hampton township. Married: 1951, to Ardith Schaepler Nelson in St. Paul. She died in 1974. Married: 1976, to Alida L. Budde in Grand Island. She also preceded him in death. Lived with first wife in the Hampton community until about 1963; worked at White Hall Home for Boys in Lincoln for a short time, then moved back to York where they were custodians of the York City Auditorium. After the death of his second wife, moved back to Aurora and lived at Colonial Corners for about a year, then moved to St. John's in Kearney. Activities: member of Aurora Lions Club and the Masons for more than 50 years; in 2001, was honored as the oldest living Mason in Nebraska Survivors include his stepdaughter, Francine Janzen of Kearney; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
