Ray Fowler Ray Fowler passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at the age of 86. He was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Hunt County to Joe and Josie Fowler, the youngest of seven children. They moved to Ellis County when Ray was a young boy and lived in Ennis and Bardwell before moving on to Chatfield in Navarro County where he grew up. n 1941, he married Helen LaFayette. and they had one son and two daughters. Ray farmed until the late 1950s when he began construction work mostly in the Arlington and Fort Worth areas. In 1983 he retired and moved back to Chatfield where he enjoyed ranching for several years and moved to Ennis in 1995 where he was residing at the time of his death. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Ennis for the last several years. Ray is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Helen, of Ennis; two daughters and their husbands, LIVING; daughter-in-law, LIVING; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his only son, Jack Fowler, in 1982; his parents; three brothers, E. J. Fowler, Claude Fowler and Alton Fowler; three sisters, Opal Steel, Floy Kirby and Lottie Chenault. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana with the Rev. Kenny Cashion officiating.
