Bio

Benjamin Johnson was born in Gibson Co., Tn to George Johnson and Elizabeth Jane Durham. Benjamin Johnson married Mary Patterson in abt 1815 in Tennessee. On 1850 Gibson Co., TN census, Benjamin and Mary are residing with 9 children. Benjamin and Mary migrated to Kentucky in the early 1850's and settled in the Marshall Co. KY area. Before 1860 they migrated to Stoddard Co, MO. Their migration can be associated with the onset of the Civil War and the Gibson Co. TN area would become a hot bed being close to Nashville, TN. The move to MO was would bring them to an area that would be less contentious. On 1860 Mo census, Benjamin and Mary are residing in Duck Creek, Stoddard Co., MO next door to son Thomas Johnson and his family, and daughter Letha Johnson Kingston and her family. Benjamin Johnson died in 1884. Benjamin Johnson and Mary Paterson had 10 known children: (1) Thomas Johnson.b. 1819 (2) Elza Jane Johnson Livingston b. 1831 (3) Henry Jasper Johnson.b. 1833 (4) John Johnson. b. 1834 (5) Leatha P Johnson Kingston. b. 1836 (6) Daniel R Johnson. b. 1840 (7) Mary Elizabeth Johnson Mooney. b. 1841 (8) Hugh L Johnson. b. 1844 (9) James Johnson. b. 1845 (10) Martha Johnson. b. 1853.
