Bio

Jackie Sherman Chapman, 80, of Longview, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Longview Reverend Wayne Wellborn officiating and assisted by Reverend Jay Barnes, pastor of Winterfield United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Gladewater Memorial Cemetery. Jackie was born in Gilmer, Texas, to the late Dave and Ovie Pickens. She graduated from Gilmer High School in 1948 and the Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing at Austin, Texas, in 1952. She worked many years as a registered nurse, retiring in 1992. Jackie was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Sherman, in 1989; and sisters: Connie Powell, Helen Williams, and Mary Williams. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Morgan R. Chapman, Jr., of Longview; son, Mark Sherman and wife, Terri; grandchildren, Jack and Hannah Sherman, of Scottsdale, Arizona; stepson, Matthew Chapman and family, of Tyler; stepdaughter, Phyllis Bragg and family, of Mesquite, TX; aunt, Lelia Jones; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
