Daughter of John and Anna (Novak) Busek. Married (1) Frank Maly on November 20, 1892 at Wahoo, Nebr. by a County Judge (divorced). Married (2) Anton Vanis on April 16, 1900 at Wahoo by a County Judge. ''''''''''' The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), July 26, 1956, p. 3, col. 1 Services Conducted July 19 For Mrs. Anna Vanis of Abie Mrs. Anton (Anna) Vanis, 81, a longtime Abie resident, died July 16 at the David City hospital. Her health had been failing for the past six months and death was attributed to a heart condition. Funeral services were held on July 19, from Knott's Funeral Home. The Rev. Boniface Tomek officiated, and Mrs. Enid Soukup furnished organ music. Serving as pallbearers were A. Svoboda, James Svoboda, Julius Vanis, Ted Vanis, Louis Vanis, and George Vanis. Interment was in the Abie Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Vanis was born in Weston and was married in April of 1900 at Wahoo. Five children were born to this union. A daughter Anna, preceded her in death. Her four surviving children include two daughters Mrs. Anton (Angela) Svoboda of David City and Mrs. E. P. (Marie) O'Connell of Omaha; and two sons, Anton of Omaha and Ernest of Los Angeles, Calif. A sister, Mrs. Janecek of Omaha and ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive her. Her husband preceded her in death just three months ago and previously a sister, Mrs. Kovarik, and two brothers, John and Joe Busek, preceded her in death. Attending the funeral services from away were Ernest Vanis of Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Anton Vanis, and Mr. and Mrs. E. P. O'Connell and son Bob, of Omaha and Miss Doris Mae Svoboda of Lincoln.
