Bio

George was a resident of Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa, when he enlisted Oct. 8, 1861 as a Private at the age of 20 years. He mustered in Co K 4th Iowa Cavalry on Nov. 25, 1861. Reenlisted and remustered Dec. 31, 1864. Promoted Eighth Corporal Jan. 1, 1865; Seventh Corporal May 1, 1865; Fifth Corporal July 1, 1865. Mustered out Aug. 8, 1865, Atlanta, Georgia.
