Donna Mae(Koza)Thompson May 1, 1927-Dec 23, 2012 Donna Mae(Koza)Thompson, 85, of Lyman, went home on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 after a two-year battle with cancer.A memorial service will be held on Dec. 27. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. She was born on May 1, 1927 in Bruno to Emil and Mary (Walla) Koza. At a young age, Donna and her family moved to the Lyman/Table Mountain area where they farmed. She attended Lincoln Valley country school as well as Huntley Elementary and High School, graduating in 1945. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for the superintendent of Huntley schools. On Oct. 10, 1947, she married Darrell Thompson in Gering. Darrell and Donna farmed in the Minatare and Banner County area until moving to a farm south of Lyman in 1967. Donna started working at the Nebraska Job Service in 1985 and later worked as a secretary at the Lyman High School for five years until the school closed. After that, she worked at the Aging Office of Western Nebraska as a clerical assistant until retiring in 1997. Her later years she enjoyed working with her family at Table Mountain Vineyard and Winery. Donna attended church at the Henry/Lyman Methodist Church in Henry. She was a past member of the Hull Community Club and a current member of the Happy Hour Club in Lyman. She is survived by her daughter, Lorie (Bruce) Zimmerer of Huntley, Wyo.; sons, Michael (Roxann) Thompson of Scottsbluff and Ken (Kathy) Thompson of Alliance; grandchildren, Patrick Zimmerer of Huntley, Wyo., Amie (Adam) Haass of Denver, Tyler Thompson of Scottsbluff, Andy Thompson of Longview, Texas and Ashley Thompson of Omaha; and sister-in-law, Fran Koza of Dothan, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Darrell Thompson; daughter, Lynette Marie Thompson; parents, Emil and Mary Koza; brothers, Harold and Eugene Koza and sister-in-law, Jerri Koza. Her life was her family and serving other people. She was never happier than when she was baking a batch of sugar cookies, watching her grandchildren in their various activities or spending time with her family and friends.
